Compulsions, obsessions - and stress
"Some people may not be able to articulate their distress – they may show it by body rocking; by making repetitive noises; by aggression; by complete withdrawal; or other individual stress reaction.
The reactions may be different – the common factor is the stress family carers of all ages feel when what was anticipated as a happy occasion becomes stressful not only for the vulnerable individual but also for everyone else around.
What can family carers do?"

Young Carers 2
“Until the right catalogue is found for magic wands, other ways of coping need to be found. Not just found, but actively explored and considered.”
Finding ways and means to give ‘quality’ time to every member of the family isn’t a luxury – it’s essential to the continuing care the family can provide for their most vulnerable member, as well as to the health and well being of all other members.”
Ideal Carers – Qualities?
“Good interpersonal and communication skills? Sense of humour? Ability to work in a multi-discipline team? Open-ness to new ideas/approaches? Willingness to learn and to undertake training?
Where does Compassion, Kindness, Warmth come in?”
