Beginnings - Awareness

How To realise such constructive and effective communication, whether offering professional or home care support, is a one of the most important parts of building the Best Care possible for the troubled and vulnerable person at the centre of all our efforts.

Listening skills, which may be affected by any or all of the following -

  • levels of personal patience;
  • tiredness, personal energy levels;
  • concentration; distracting thoughts e.g. home situation, past and possible future events;
  • relevant training;
  • assumptions and perceptions about other people, which may or may not be based on fact or accurate information;
  • assumptions and perceptions of what other people mean by actions or words – do they understand the same definitions as you have?
